About me
I am very excited to join the teaching staff at Marshall! I grew up in Martinsville, and I have a lot of ties to this community.
I received my B.A. in English and a minor in Business from Eastern Illinois University. I moved to the Detroit, Michigan area, and I received my teaching certification from University of Detroit Mercy. I completed my M.A. in English Communications from Marygrove College.
I spent twenty-five years in the Detroit area. I had many incredible experiences working with urban students.
Two years ago, my family moved back to Martinsville. My children are still adjusting to living in the country rather than a large metropolitan area.
I am married, and my husband is a school psychologist at Charleston Community Schools. I have two sons, Samuel, who is an 8th grader, and Noah, who is a 6th grader. They will both be attending Marshall schools.
I am also an adjunct instructor for Lincoln Trail College, where I teach composition and speech/communications.
In my spare time, I like to read, watch sports (I am still a huge Detroit sports fan!), and I am working on a novel. I also like refinishing furniture and working on home renovations.
